SEARCY - Harding junior defender Chad Marshall hit a 20-yard blast from just outside the box to score the game-winning goal in the Bisons' 2-1 non-conference men's soccer victory Tuesday at the Harding Soccer Field.

The win moved Harding to 3-6-1 on the season and gave the team its second straight home victory. Central Baptist, an NCCAA program from Conway, Ark., fell to 5-6-0. It was the first-ever regular season meeting between the teams.

Harding took an early 1-0 lead when senior midfielder Colby Wilson rattled home a goal off the cross bar in the 12th minute. It was his fourth score of the season. The Bisons took the one-goal lead into the break.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Marshall put the Bisons ahead 2-0. Sophomore midfielder Connor Galloway had his shot deflected at the top of the box, and Marshall corralled the loose ball and launched a shot into the upper-right corner. It was his second career goal and his second career game-winner.

Central Baptist pulled back within one goal in the 71st minute as Mustang substitute Michilli Moses weaved his way through the Harding defense to score from five yards out. It was one of only three Central Baptist shots on goal, and the Mustangs did not have another serious scoring chance.

Harding controlled possession for much of the game and out-shot Central Baptist 27-9. Bison forward Carter Truax had nine shots in the game, the most by a Bison player this season and tied for the fifth-most in program history.

Harding's next action is Friday at 7:30 p.m., in Searcy against Montevallo. It is the Bisons' first of six Gulf South Conference games.
